Early Learners make Silly Sentences with Numbers

My Early Learner English as a Second Language students love making Silly Sentences with Numbers! In this engaging Numbers Literacy Book students use the "Pop Up Menu" cell feature to choose from a list of words to add to the sentence frame in the table. (Students who need extra support reading these words they may find them on anchor charts with visuals posted around the room) Once students have selected the words to complete their Silly Sentence they draw a matching picture using the drawing tools. To practice our Speaking skills students are asked to create a voice recording reading their sentence aloud. I have attached a copy of our Silly Sentences Numbers book to download.

This is such a cool way to use that function. Such an awesome multimodal activity. I am definitely sharing this with our teachers!

What an inventive way to use Numbers! Love it Katie! This can even be applied to older learners learning vocab.

Oh this is super fun and an amazing idea, Katie! 🤩 Incredible work! So cool when a teacher subverts an app’s traditional use cases and features to create something new! 💡🙌

I think I’ll try this with our boys at home. They would love it!
