Meditative Practices Using Clips and Garage Band

Our focus at our school this year has been using Apple Technology to support mental wellbeing and health practices. Under the leadership of Jessica McMurter, students have been working hard to increase their iPad skills and mental health knowledge. One of our favourite projects to date has been creating and sharing short meditations and visualizations using clips and garage band. Check out the awesome work of some of our students!

I love how your school has focused on mental wellbeing and health practices and that you are finding ways to use iPad to facilitate the mission. Not only is the product a great tool for mindfulness and focus, but the creative process also allows students the opportunity to focus on themselves and their mental wellbeing.

The combination of audio from GarageBand and images assembled in Clips is powerful here. I'm not sure if you have time to dedicate to another level with this project, but students could also create relaxing soundscapes with music and/or sound effects in GarageBand as a sound bed for their voiceovers. I hope you'll continue to share projects that support this very important focus of mental wellbeing. Congratulations to you and your creative students! 👏

Hello, thank you for the compliments! This project was a fun and engaging experience for our students. They created background sounds and sound clips using GarageBand. Some students even recorded the Kanyen’kehà:ka (Mohawk) water drum and rattles, as these authentic instruments and sounds are not available in GarageBand and are integral to the Kanyen’kehà:ka community where our school is located.

Such a powerful combination of GarageBand and Clips, Jennifer! 🤩

I love how this leverages technology to support positive mental health and wellbeing. A great examples of this in action! Wonderful work from the students! 🙌
