Developing questioning skills is so important for our students, but it’s also one of the trickiest things to do. Using specific questioning routines can be a great way to help build these skills and encourage the development of deeper questioning skills.
Numbers is a fantastic tool to use for this as it allows students to have an endless page - so they don’t feel constrained in their thinking by the borders they see in front of them.
I’ve created a Numbers resource that has five question scaffolds (four of them are from Trevor MacKenzie and one is a Solo Taxonomy routine I’ve used a lot). These can be used as a choice board type activity where students choose which routine they want to use, or you could copy just one and use it with your students.
How might you use these scaffolds to help your students develop their questioning skills?

Learning to ask questions that lead to deeper meaning and understanding is such an important skill. Thanks for the Numbers template that provides activities for students to practice and develop that skill.
