Don Quixote Newscast

Students will report on a text and present an opinion, sequencing ideas logically and using appropriate facts. Students will use relevant, descriptive details to support main ideas or themes. Students will speak clearly at an understandable pace.

Students will use Keynote and Keynote’s Live Video feature to create a newscast about a wild adventure of Don Quixote, drawing from specific details in the literary text. Students will develop 7 different slides.

  1. Title Slide
  2. News anchor starting the newscast
  3. Video of action scene (Ex: Attacking the windmills or fighting the donkey owners)
  4. News anchor “going live” to a reporter in the field with two eye witnesses
  5. Reporter interviewing eye witness 1, “Do Don Quixote’s good intentions justify his actions?”
  6. Reporter interviewing eye witness 2.
  7. End of newscast with news anchor signing off.

Success Criteria:

  • Using an internet image search, students will find graphics or videos matching specific details from the story “Don Quixote.”
  •  Students will state an opinion and back it up with sequencing ideas logically and using appropriate facts.

Note: The interview question is the writing prompt for the Unit 4 Opinion Essay assignment.

That is a great use of Keynote. I never thought of using the Live Video feature in that way for a class project. Thank you for sharing the template you created.
