My hope is that while celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, students will engage in a more exciting and meaningful way to learn about notable Hispanic Americans. By researching their contributions and impact on society, students will gain a deeper appreciation and share their findings in a more engaging and interactive format. Since I see my students once a week for 50 minutes, this lesson has been broken up into three sessions.
Week 1: Students select a notable person from the curated list provided by FactCite and conduct their research, recording their information on a note sheet.
Week 2: Students receive the poster template from Schoolwork and begin entering their research. Information can be typed or voice/video recorded. Additional photos and illustrative shapes can be added.
Week 3: General wrap-up and poster presentations.
