Using shapes in Keynote - Alma Thomas Artwork

This lesson is aimed at primary-aged pupils or new learners of Keynote. It focuses on teaching children how to select, fill, and rotate shapes to create digital artwork inspired by Alma Thomas. I’ve also included a slide about Alma’s life, as she was a truly inspirational woman. It’s a great opportunity to not only explore her bold, abstract style but also to learn about the challenges she overcame. This activity works particularly well as part of a Black History Month unit. I’ve gained so much inspiration from other teachers on this forum and thought I’d finally have a go at sharing one of my own resources—hope you find it useful!

What a great idea, Rachael! I’m a big fan of any activity that helps to learn or reinforce essential digital skills liek these! Far more engaging and impactful than a simple ‘how to’ guide. Great job! 🙌
