Preparation and Flow
For this lesson, teacher and students will need to use Freeform on the iPad.
1. Begin by setting the context of the topic/event. Good to contextualise the topic by indicating the period in question including the duration. E.g. From 1367 - present day.
2. Students to be tasked in groups to research on the topic and identify the major points during the cause of the topic/event.
3. Once identified, each event may be placed in a call-out shape with all relevant details.(see Image). Images and videos along with accompanying write-ups or links can also be inserted. 4. Students may use the timeline to demonstrate the understanding of connections between each event to see the larger scheme of events.
Possible Extension
Take it further by adding other file types to enrich the links to the major points e.g. a speech by Lee Kuan Yew on Merdeka, or having students add their own voice explanations of why they think thes are the major points in a voice file and attached it to the shapes for others to view, have a thought and discuss.
Easily applicable to other any subjects E.g. Literature for such as plot development tracing to the climax. Or social studies in understanding trends. Science to trace the majors invention or developmental milestones.
