As an Instructional Technology Facilitator across four elementary buildings, I’m always looking for "path of least resistance" solutions. Recently, my teachers were looking for a more reliable way to share student math strategies in real-time. While we love Apple Classroom and AirPlay, we needed something a bit more instantaneous for quick transitions.
Enter: The Freeform Math Board.
It’s a simple setup, but it’s been a game-changer for workflow. Here is the breakdown:
- The Layout: I created a board with numbered "Learning Spots" for every student.
- The Content: I dropped a screenshot of our daily math warm-up into each spot, including a "Teacher Space" and a few extras.
- The Organization: I used Scenes to organize the board by date for the entire unit and locked elements down to prevent any accidental "resizing" mishaps!
- The Access: I generated a QR code and posted it permanently on the board so students can jump in immediately.
We are launching this with our 2nd and 4th graders next week! It’s not "high-tech" for the sake of tech—it’s just a digital space where everyone has a seat.
