The common challenges faced by Grade School Social Studies teachers in the Philippines, based on classroom realities and current educational contexts. Many students see Social Studies as memorization-heavy (dates, names, events), which can lead to low interest, especially among younger learners. Connecting historical events and civic concepts to students’ everyday lives and current issues can be challenging but is essential for meaningful learning. How are we going to make our history class motivating and exciting?Since we are teaching the 21st Century students and they are very fond of watching reels and vlogs, might as well apply it or make use of the platform wherein their content is history?
Empathize
We need to think about what it was like for Filipinos during the Philippine Revolution of 1898. Students read texts and look at pictures to understand what people felt and thought back then. They talk about it to get an idea of what life was like during that time. (Teachers may give sources or book pages the students may use in this activity)

Define
Students pick a person from history. Decide what story they want to tell from that persons point of view. They want to tell the story of what happened to that person during the Philippine Revolution.
Driving Question:
How can we help others understand what Filipinos went through during the Philippine Revolution by making a video journal that's like a diary.
Ideate
Students think of ways to tell their story using the Clips app. They can use their voice, pictures, words on the screen, music and special effects. They work together to plan out what their video will look like and what they will say.
Prototype
Students make a video journal using the Clips app. They pretend to be a leader, soldier or regular person from the Philippine Revolution. They use pictures, music and words to make their story feel real.
Test
Students show their videos to their classmates. Ask for feedback. They think about how their video helps people understand what happened during the Philippine Revolution and how it makes them feel. The videos will be posted in Padlet App so their classmates may comment and like their work.
Impact
This project helps students become creators of history of just readers. By using technology to tell stories about the past students become more creative learn to communicate think critically and understand peoples feelings. They make connections to the past that're meaningful, to them.
