Food Detective: Healthy and Unhealthy Food is an engaging interactive learning resource designed to help Year 3 pupils explore the difference between healthy and unhealthy food while developing their English language skills. Through colourful visuals, simple vocabulary, interactive activities, and digital learning experiences, pupils can observe, identify, discuss, and respond to different types of food.
The resource encourages active participation by allowing pupils to become “food detectives” as they examine pictures and identify which foods are healthy or unhealthy. Pupils also observe different people eating various foods and identify who is making healthy and unhealthy food choices.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the learning experience, pupils will be able to:
• Identify at least 3 healthy foods and 3 unhealthy foods.
• Identify at least 3 people who eat healthy food and 3 people who eat unhealthy food.
Learning with iPad
The activities encourage pupils to move beyond simply looking at pictures and become active learners. Pupils can explore food images, listen to and practise vocabulary, identify healthy and unhealthy choices, and create their own responses using iPad and Apple tools such as Keynote, Pages, Voice Memos, and iMovie.
Through interactive learning, pupils develop their English vocabulary while building awareness of the importance of making healthy food choices.
