Comprehensive Training for All Leaders

What makes our experience unique? In Roosevelt School District (RSD) No. 66 in South Phoenix, we are intentional about making learning fair and equitable for every child. Rather than something extra, using technology is a part of our instructional practice. We intentionally ensure every leadership level is trained to support innovative learning experiences through Apple technology integration. Although educators receive MacBook Airs and students receive 1:1 iPads, it does not mean they know how to use technology devices to deepen learning. In RSD, there is intentional focus on training Principals, Assistant Principals, Student Deans, Instructional Coaches and Technology Learning Leaders (TLL). TLLs are a newly developed team of teachers recruited to represent each school site. This body of teachers serve as the liaisons between the District’s IT Department and each building. By training every leader level in this all-inclusive framework, transferring learning to the classroom is emphasized and modeled. RSD leaders have the ability to support others, including classroom teachers and paraprofessionals, with a comprehensive professional development plan. At RSD, we recognize making learning fair and equitable for every child requires building professional technology agency to support highly effective teaching practices.

Thanks for sharing. How do teachers find having a device that is different from the students? I also advice schools that teachers need access to the same device as students, if not how can they plan and feel comfortable with it? Interested to hear your thoughts.
