Maps and Sketches school for Driver Education

We started out with students finding the maps app on their iPads and exploring Maps. They took a few minutes to check it out. We talked about choosing a destination to take a practice drive. I showed them a drive on maps from the school to a nearby restaurant, then to Hershey Park, and then to State College. We looked at choosing the best routes for each journey, and why. (Tolls, time, etc.) I told them to choose 3 places they wanted to go, create or choose a route, and take a screenshot.

Then, we open Sketches School ( or added it if they didn’t have it) and explored the different tools on that for a while. Then I showed them how easily they could document a trip they drive in maps and marking info on it in Sketches. They can write the time it took, the time of day they left, the miles they drove, and even get a parent to sign it. They can use these “sketched up maps” as journal entries for their driving log that they are required to keep to get their license. #elco

Great idea. I wonder if they could import these into Pages to make a book as well?
