Since we were tasked with sharing our stories of impact I thought I'd post some of my ideas here.
I am proud of the impact I've had on students and educators through innovative initiatives and my unwavering commitment to educational technology. One of the most significant impacts I've made this year was spearheading the NYC Battle of the Boroughs Esports Challenge. This citywide esports competition empowered students to reimagine New York City using Minecraft, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration. It was accessible to even young students on iPads, and the in-person Queens competition I led was on all Macs. I take great pride in providing a platform for students to actively shape their city's future while developing essential skills for the digital age. Through my leadership, I've witnessed students come alive with excitement as they design sustainable and inclusive urban spaces. The success of the program is evident in the enthusiastic participation of students, teachers, and families across all five boroughs.
Another impactful contribution I am proud of is my involvement in the Computer Science for All (CS4All) initiative and my role in promoting Computer Science Education Week. As a strong advocate for computer science education, I've worked tirelessly to make CS accessible and engaging for all students. During CS Ed Week, I organized and participated in various events, workshops, and activities that introduced students to coding, robotics, and computational thinking. Witnessing students' curiosity and enthusiasm for computer science ignite is incredibly rewarding. By providing opportunities for hands-on learning and exploration, I'm helping to inspire the next generation of tech innovators and problem-solvers.
Lastly, I'm honored to have been appointed to the NYSCATE Board, where I can further my impact on educational technology in New York State. Sharing my expertise and collaborating with fellow board members to shape the future of technology in education is a privilege. I'm excited to contribute to NYSCATE's mission of leading the transformation of teaching and learning through technology. Beyond that I am also part of the ISTE organizing committee coordinating larger-scale edtech connections. I believe that my passion for innovation, combined with my experience in the field, will enable me to make a significant contribution to the board and support educators across the state.
