Three Ways to Showcase & Celebrate Woman’s History Month - iMovie, Clips, Freeform

As we conclude Women’s History Month in the United States, (or any commemorative month) I like to advise teachers to let students choose how to share their knowledge. Student created media projects based on the same content can be showcased with a variety of digital tools, giving learners choice of the medium to share their learning.

I tried my hand with content from one Library of Congress blog post on Women in Aviation. The post included a 1910 historic song Come Josephine, In My Flying Machine from the National Jukebox as well as primary source images and a powerful quote from Amelia Earhart. Here are my three outcomes:

iMovie

Downloaded the primary sources and added them to iMovie using the "Ken Burns effect". Downloaded the song and uploaded to GarageBand for editing. Saved GarageBand song, added it as a soundtrack to iMovie.

Clips

Added the primary sources to Clips and applied Animated Stickers Effects. Imported the GarageBand song as soundtrack. Added a Clips Poster as a title.

Freeform

Freeform adds more context to the content. All media, iMovie, Clips, primary sources, song, speeches (and - even a little Apple Intelligence Image Playground) can sit on the board, inviting viewers to a cacophony of media for showcasing. I pulled over the primary sources to Freeform and added links to the original sources.

What other Apple tools might students use to showcase their learning during Women’s History Month?
