Two of our social studies teachers have loved using Freeform in their classrooms to have students create and share profiles of historical figures/cultures on their iPads. I originally created and shared a template for this idea, which these teachers modified for their content and then shared with their students to duplicate. (We are so excited about the new Freeform "send a copy" option in iPadOS 18 which will make sharing templates so much easier!)
One teacher had her students research and create profiles for real cowboys and cowgirls in Texas history, outlining their impact and important events of their lives.
Another teacher assigned indigenous tribes native to Texas to groups of students, who then collaborated to research their cultural traits and create a Freeform profile for each tribe. Then, students added a screenshot of their creation to a whole-class collaborative board, from which each group then collected information on the other tribes in a digital gallery walk/jigsaw activity.
Both teachers commented on how they noticed higher levels of engagement and appreciated being able to provide an opportunity for creativity while still focusing on historical content. Some of the finished products were pretty awesome!
If you have iOS 18 or MacOS 15, you can use this linked Freeform template to create a copy and modify. If not, attached below is a PDF version to view and use for inspiration! I created the template to be used for historical figures, but it can also be modified for literary characters, "about me" activities, and more! #weareLCP

What a great idea! Another part of the iOS 18 update that I like is “Scenes” in Freeform! Students could set up the scenes and create a screen recording with an explanation while they scroll through their scenes.
