Mexico Shines in the Swift Student Challenge 2025!

We woke up with teary eyes and full hearts today. It’s only midday, and 17 students from Mexico have already shared that they were selected as winners of the Swift Student Challenge 2025! Among them, 2 received the prestigious Distinguished Winner award 🎖️, placing them among the top 50 apps worldwide and earning them an invitation to a special event in Cupertino.

But beyond the numbers, the stories behind these winners are truly moving:

🚀 For the first time, multiple K-12 winners from Mexico: Three of the winners are middle school students under 15 years old who are part of Programadores en Swift México, an LDC initiative inviting K-12 schools to start coding with Swift.

🏫 A historic milestone for public education: Three winning students are from Escuela dTalento Secundaria No. 86, marking the first time a student from a public middle or high school in Mexico has won this global challenge.

👩‍💻 Innovation with real-world impact: Among these three winners, two are girls, and their apps tackle critical issues like improving math education to address PISA results, sharing astronomy knowledge, and fighting domestic violence against women.

🌍 A 15-year-old Distinguished Winner: One of these winners, just 15 years old, placed among the top 50 apps in the world, proudly representing Mexico’s public education system.

💡 A reminder that access and inspiration make a difference: These students had only five months of experience with Swift, and their access to Apple devices was limited. This achievement proves the power of a #SwiftCodingClub and a passionate #AppleTeacher to inspire young minds to solve real-world problems through technology.

🏆 A huge shoutout to iOS Dev Labs: These students are part of iOS Dev Labs, a community that fosters collaboration, mentoring, and growth among student developers. Special kudos to their incredible teachers Elvia, Eduardo, and Claudia, whose dedication and guidance played a key role in this success.

None of this would have been possible without a committed community. Huge thanks to Joaquín Ramírez #AppleProfessionalLearningSpecialist from Learning Design Center for leading this initiative, to Sarah for documenting and tracking these incredible stories, and to all the teachers, school leaders, and partners who believed in this journey.

Today, we celebrate these achievements, but more importantly, we celebrate the potential of these students and the future they are building. 🚀✨
