I had my 6th grade students modify the provided a-z book template for pages to create an acrostic poem related to the novel we were reading in class. They chose a theme/character to focus on, chose a word for the theme or used the character's name, and created an acrostic poem using the template. Each slide was dedicated to a letter/single line. Students really enjoyed this activity because they were able to be creative, and they had some choice in how to complete the assignment. Further, with each line they wrote, related to the theme or character, they had to include a connected image that related to what they wrote. This fostered student engagement, creativity, and learning. I would definitely suggest an activity like this for any grade level.
