My Journey in Adapting Technology to Transform Learning in My Classroom

For the past 15 years I have been teaching English in a Tamil primary school in Banting, Selangor. Like many teachers I started with the basics using chalk, textbooks and whiteboards. Over time I saw how quickly the world around my students was changing. Technology was no longer just something for entertainment. It had become a language my students needed to understand if they wanted to do well in the future.

When I first started using Apple technology it was not just about having new devices. It was about changing the way I taught. With tools like iPad, Keynote and Pages I began creating lessons that made English more exciting for my students. Instead of memorizing vocabulary lists they made digital flashcards, recorded their voices reading short stories and even prepared simple presentations to share with their classmates. I noticed that the quiet students started to speak up and the more active students became more focused.

The biggest change I have seen is in their skills. They are improving not only in English but also in creativity, critical thinking and problem solving. Technology helped me to teach each child according to their level. It gave support to the ones who needed more help and at the same time challenged those who were ready to go further.

My journey with technology is still continuing. I am proud of how much my students and I have learned together. Every new tool I explore is not just an upgrade for me. It is another chance for my students to grow and discover what they can do.

Thanks for sharing your journey! Agree, keeping creativity, critical thinking and problem solving at the forefront when using technology or teaching any lesson is a plus for students and teachers. That’s been my experience also. Student engagement is such an important part of learning.
