Students begin this project with an illustration or art project of an idea. They use ChatterPix to give their art a voice, recording themselves as storytellers. Finally, everything comes together in a digital eBook with Book Creator, blending images, narration, and even some text to share with authentic audiences.
Step One: Students begin by reading a book or exploring a writing prompt with their class. In this example, students read a story about a ghost that was tired of being a ghost and wanted to dress up as something else for Halloween. They were given a ghost template to disguise or dress up as a different character.
Step Two: Students write to go along with their learning. In this example, students were challenged to write about what they would like to be if they were tired of being of being a ghost and why.
Step Three: Digitize the artwork... Open ChatterKid, use the iPad camera to take a photo of the art.
Step Four: Draw a mouth for the character and tap the microphone to record. NOTE: students have 30 seconds to record in the app. Practicing their story BEFORE they begin recording so they can read it fluently will help ... a LOT!
Step Five: Students can explore adding stickers, text, or filters for extra flair. Then save the video to their iPad camera roll.
Step Six: Upload the final video to an LMS or Seesaw to share with families.
