I recently guided my students through a project that blended digital design, storytelling, and Apple technology. The challenge: create an Identity eBook using Apple Pages on Mac, after capturing photos with their iPhones and editing them in Adobe Photoshop.
Each eBook explored five dimensions of identity: Personal, Historical, Biological, Cultural, and Digital. Students began by planning their concept: sketching ideas, selecting images, defining a color palette, and choosing typography that reflected their personality.
Once the design plan was ready, they captured photos, edited them in Photoshop, and wrote text to complement each image. Finally, they assembled everything in Apple Pages, adding audio reflections and short videos to create a truly multimedia experience.
This workflow allowed students to:
• Practice visual design principles (color, typography, layout)
• Develop digital literacy and multimedia storytelling skills
• Reflect deeply on their own identity in a creative, structured way
Watching students transform abstract ideas into visually stunning eBooks was inspiring. They didn’t just learn technology, they learned how to communicate meaningfully through design and media.
I’d love to hear your feedback and suggestions!
