Hardware MAC Addresses now Available in Apple School Manager

We’re happy to share that you can now find MAC address information for your institution-owned devices directly in Apple School Manager and Apple Business Manager. Similar to the recent addition of AppleCare coverage data, this update provides IT administrators with new reporting options for their Apple fleet. 

Administrators can view MAC addresses for each device by navigating to the Devices section of Apple School Manager and selecting a specific unit. For iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro, Apple School Manager will reveal:

• The Wi-Fi MAC address
• The Bluetooth MAC address

And for Mac:

• The Wi-Fi MAC address
• The Bluetooth MAC address
• The built-in Ethernet MAC addresses

Note: The built-in Ethernet MAC address is currently available only for Mac computers with Apple silicon from 2021 or later. For the complete list of available device information fields, see the Apple School Manager User Guide.

Also Available in the Apple School Manager API

Just like AppleCare coverage data, MAC address information is also available through the Apple School Manager and Apple Business Manager API. This allows developers and IT teams to programmatically access the same MAC address data for integration into their enterprise systems. This addition supports interoperability between Apple School Manager and systems that utilize a hardware MAC address for onboarding or reporting, such as certain asset management tools.
