Place Value

My first grade students used keynote slides and an iPad to explore place value. They needed to find a number around the room (number line, numbers in a book, numbers are the wall, etc.), take a picture of it, build the number with physical tens and ones with their mat and take a picture of it, use the tens and ones blocks to slide over to make the number, and then record themselves saying how many tens and how many ones it has. It was a great way to utilize all types of learning: visual, kinesthetic, and audio. I had them do many slides to practice with many different numbers. Then they shared with a partner.

Wonderful lesson - loved the “record your story”. So many modes of learning included! Thanks for the post!
