Students will go on a "Shape Hunt" around the classroom to find real world representations of shapes.
- Divide students into pairs. Give them a specific target shape to find. (ie. Find three circles, 5 squares, 8 triangles.)
- Students use the Camera app to take pictures of what they find.
- Students create a 3-slide Keynote template on student iPads or teacher create and send it via Apple Classroom or AirDrop).
- Students insert a picture of a shape they found onto first Keynote slide and repeat for slides 2-3.
--Students tap the + (Insert) button, select Photo or Video, and add their photo.
--Using the Apple Pencil or their finger with the Markup/Draw tool, students trace over the shape they found in the photo (e.g., drawing a blue circle over the clock face) to prove they recognize the geometry
5.Students will use the shape library drop virtual stickers (like stars or dots) directly on top of each item in their photo as they count them out loud to show one to one correspondence.
6.Students will write the numeral that matches their set of items.
7.Students can tap +> Record Audio and record themselves counting out loud: "One, two, three, four, five, six. There are six circles/clocks."
*If needed, teacher can add a ten frame onto each slide, so students can drag their photos into the it to help them anchor their counting visually.
Attach up to 5 files which will be available for other members to download.
