LEARNING HOW TO GROW PLANTS | FOLLOWING THE PROCESS USING TECHNOLOGY

As part of our garden project, second grade kindergarten students learned about how to care for plants and their needs and what we must do to help them grow big and bear the fruit we hope for. 

Stage of the journey


  • They were given radish seeds, which we planted in biodegradable pots, and every day we observed their growth ñwhile watering them and talking to them using kind words.

  • While we watched the plants grow, we also took evidence using the camera app on our iPad.

  • When the plant had a larger root, we went to the school garden to plant it there. 

  • We constantly visit our plants and continue to gather evidence of their growth. 

  • Finally, we wanted to compare the changes that each plant had, so we decided to create a timeline using Keynote. 

Significant achievements and lessons learned 



  • Digital communication: the iPad was used as a tool to create and share their opinions.

  • Empowerment: students developed greater confidence to express themselves in front of their peers.

  • Exploring the world: they developed a greater awareness of the environment around us.

It is important to instill curiosity in children about our environment and help them discover how plants grow and what we can do to care for them. We have the best tool for teaching them right here in our hands.
