Our Why
With conversations coming up left and right about screen time and technology usage in schools- some of it rightfully so, we kept coming back to how we can share our students story about their device usage with our families and greater community. All while highlighting that not all technology usage is the same. Thus the "I Am a Creator" series was born.
Our First Step
We wanted to create a series that can launch a greater campaign to educate our community about different uses of technology in our schools, our educational goals with technology, and most importantly our students experiences with technology. Focusing in on the phrases and words we hear most often both in the more negative and positive connotations in regards to classroom technology usage- consumer vs creator, publisher, communicator, etc. Then sharing the words that best highlight our technology usage and focus in schools: intentional, authentic, purposeful, transformative, and accessible. These goals in mind, it led to the creation of the I am A Creator video launch to spark the stories that we are going to highlight throughout the year. You can see our video below but there is a template for you to make your own attached.

Our Future Goals
As we start into this upcoming school year we intend to continue to highlight our students and share their stories and experiences about creating with their devices. This would utilize the same structure of being a publisher, communicator, problems solver, designer, creator, etc. These mini short form videos will highlight what impactful and intentional technology usage looks like in the real life day of the students.

How to Use the Ready Made Template
1 Customize Your Story in the Attached Keynote: Personalize the slides to reflect your district's mission and highlight your students' voices.
2 Export Keynote as a Movie: Navigate to File > Export To > Movie... in Keynote to convert your slide deck into a video file.
3 Add Music in iMovie for Maximum Impact: Import your exported movie into iMovie. Drop in an inspirational soundtrack or soundtrack loop from iMovie’s built-in audio library (or Apple Loops) to match the energy shift—building from calm during the traditional roles to upbeat and dynamic as students become creators. Adjust audio ducking if you include voiceover narration.
4 Share the Final Cut: Export your finished movie from iMovie and share it during professional learning sessions, on social media, during school board presentations, or at parent nights to showcase your district's vision for purposeful technology.
