A positive community builds you up and pushes you further. The Apple community fosters inspiration and creativity. It’s a space where you leave feeling inspired, whether you interacted with the community through small virtual interactions or whole summit events. A space where you can look critically on your work and receive feedback that is truly soft on people and hard on content.

Support, to know other people are going through the same issues and have solutions. Community provides ideas like an extended PLT(professional learning team) across school with staff off similar ideology. Community is vital for survival and thriving in this professions.

Inclusivity, belonging, connection, valuing others and being valued, support, championing others, sharing purpose. It’s the threads that we bind together in the colourful tapestry of our journey together.

I think it’s about creating opportunity for connection. Intentional actionable feedback points where genuine sharing and practice can develop.

Community is about finding my people. 😀

Eric Jensen drew a Venn diagram that really hit home about the contribution of the different communities and the dynamic and fluid nature between these. With us at the Centre we draw from our communities but also pay this forward to influence other communities who then influence their own communities.

Initially I thought about community being a safe space where we can share our ideas and receive feedback without feeling personally judged (thinking back to being “soft on people and hard on content”.

Then as a group we talked about the different communities we are a part of. In all of our communities we have some influence, and we can draw on the ideas and energy from the community. Some communities give us more energy and some we have more influence over.

We are all at the centre of our collection of communities and we can draw on and influence each of them.

Community is a shared group of individuals that share something in common. Within a community many more communities can exist! In the future, communities will continue to evolve, adapt to changing needs and technologies. However, will communities of the future foster connections, will they provide support, will they shape experiences in an ever changing world!

Community means creating a vibrant space where teachers can come together, share knowledge, and support each other. It’s about building an environment where we can learn, be inspired, and challenge one another to continuously innovate in our classrooms. Together, we can achieve amazing things! 🌟📚💡 #AppleEdu #TeacherCommunity #InnovateTogether

Wonderful and thought provoking replies to your query Jeff! Such an important concept - the meaning of community to each individual. I think about this topic a lot as we post and reply in the Apple Education Community.

I’m looking forward to the #ANZ Summit 24 reflections also on your second question: Community Discussion Topic Two about what contributes to a thriving community. As we network together and from a distance, this is an essential question.

Appreciate seeing, from a far, all the wonderful and informative posts coming out of the ANZ Apple Education Community Summit - thanks (from California)!

Community means an opportunity to be part of a group that I trust to share the concerns I have as a leader and educator. It means caring for each other long-term and being able to draw on and provide support at the point of need. It also means contributing knowledge so that it can be shared with others in the community in ways that can impact their practice.
