‘Unity’ is in comm’unity’ so it is about uniting together as students, teachers, leaders and students working together on the key words of collaboration, communication, creativity and innovation. Attributes include listening, growth mindset, celebrating success and being open to supporting challenges.

A thriving community celebrates success together and supports each other during challenges. They collaborate with each other and have mutual trust.

Open and honest discussions.

Passion and commitment to create a community where core values and beliefs are established to reach a shared vision.

Supportive environment.

People, place, purpose and identity - when those 4 things intersect and all are connected through reciprocal relationships, that’s when you get a thriving community.

Thriving communities are often self-sustaining spaces with high trust, great communication, established norms, shared values or goals and high respect.

A thriving community encompasses a robust and effective staff culture. It requires innovative staff who embrace a growth mindset and seek opportunities for learning and improvement. They uplift each other, modeling innovation and creativity in their actions and attitudes. Collaboration and mutual support drive progress and success. Laughter, staff retention and collegiality.

A thriving community is one that learns, reflects, reviews, renews as a collaborative unit. All members are accepted and respected, and have a voice that is heard. Successes and failures are celebrated in context, with a view to continuous learning and improvement.

Collective goals/ purposes. Positive growth/ motivation to be a part of it. Drivers/ key organisers. Strong leadership and capacity for development of Middle Leaders.

Thriving communities look different depending on your school’s context, but there are three attributes that help build a vibrant, supportive, and enriching learning environment for everyone involved. 🌟
