Co-designing a Calming Courtyard Space with Elementary Students

Our school is exploring how to turn an unused courtyard into a calming outdoor space for students. We want students to help identify what would make the space feel welcoming and calming, then share and refine design ideas.

For educators who have involved students in designing an outdoor space, how did you gather student ideas and help them turn those ideas into a workable design? Have Apple tools such as Keynote, Freeform, or iPad photo and video helped students brainstorm, create mock-ups, or share their thinking? If not Apple products, what have you used?
