Back to School Keynote Welcome Project
In my school, students have their first true experience learning with iPads when they enter my room in eighth grade science. I’m the only full iPad classroom in the district, and students will be using the iPads year-round for challenge-based learning and projects. So, I need to give my students some entry experiences using Keynote software to build comfort, skills, and familiarity. Many of our lab reports, workbooks, engineering design challenges, and projects use Keynote. Our first experience must be one to hook students and show them the power of iPad!
This Keynote file will be Airdropped to each student for their first project. The assignment has two purposes. First, it will allow me to get to know my students as the school year is beginning. For example, they are able to share what they are excited about and a little nervous about.
Secondly, it will introduce the Keynote software as well as using Apple pencils. Students will have the opportunity to work with capturing and editing images, drawing, inserting shapes, and more. The audio clips on some of the slides add accessibility features for students who may need directions repeated as well.
I hope this is a creative and fun way to begin our year!
