Hear Me Grow: Fluency Portfolio
Fluency is key in learning to read and so hard to track and show growth. Using the record audio feature in Keynote, I created a digital portfolio for students to record themselves reading in order to track growth.
This file can be used weekly over the grading period, semester, or entire year. Students will take a photo of the text, level reader, poem, or passage of the teacher's choice to upload to their portfolio. The student will record themselves reading the text and add it to the page. There is also a place for the student to type the title and date of the reading in order to capture when and what was read.
This is a great way for students, parents, teachers, or any other staff members to hear and see growth over time. If you have any student concerns, this is a great way to track their progress.
What a great way to reflect and see the change over time!

Thank you, Ashley! I'm going to use your idea of recording fluency, but in the Pages digital portfolio I'm working on. My MLLs will have a reading fluency section now to reflect and grow. And share with their other teachers and family. Thanks again for sharing!

Hi Ashley -
Thank you for sharing this! I like how simple it is and am exploring other ways for a similar format to be used in various other classroom spaces for reflection, and metacognitive thinking out loud! I love the idea of students recording their reading, thinking, reflecting, and then going back to it.
