Modern Marvels of the 1920's Magazine Cover

I used this in my 10th grade US History Class. I had the following learning objectives

Identify inventions of the 1920s, Correctly use advertisements like those of the 1920s, and show impact of the invention with catchy wording

This used skills from Everyone Can Create Photos, especially the use of removing the background. It also used skills learned from the Pages Learning Badges. Students demonstrated their learning by correctly identifying a new invention or modern marvel of the 1920s. They also were able to show their understanding of its impact with a creative phrase to go with their magazine cover. Finally, they demonstrated Pages skills of using instant alpha and many other features. Students enjoyed taking what they had learned about a modern marvel of the 1920s and bringing it to life through advertisement which was a new idea during that time period. They enjoyed creatively showcasing what they had learned through a poster made in pages. These posters were shared with parents in students' digital portfolios at conferences. Parents were overall impressed with their children's tech and content skills It was great having evidence of student success to showcase.

I've included a simple sample I created but the students ideas were much better!!

Love this idea - very creative and easy to do with Pages, plus requires some good history inquiry! I’m passing it along to my Teaching with Primary Sources Teachers Network. Thanks!
