Actual vs. Optimal Learning Environment Evaluation

I'm currently teaching a PhD course called "Leading & Learning" where we're exploring how leaders can facilitate change processes and create the optimal conditions for learning in their work context, whether that's learning environments for K-12 students, faculty in schools (both K-12 and higher ed), or for adult learners in other industries.

One of our course modules is focused on formal and informal learning environments. Often, our physical environments for learning vary in how conducive they are to facilitating the kind of learning we want to see. To examine this, we worked through a scaffolded actual vs. optimal analysis process to identify the "gaps" between actual vs. optimal learning environments and set action steps for moving forward toward creating more optimal learning environments.

I thought the document for scaffolding this evaluation might be useful to other leaders who are seeking to make meaningful, positive changes to learning environments in their organizations.

Such a good thought template Jessica. I like the idea of focusing on physical environments. Often we don’t think about these when planning for learning and they are so important. Your template is very helpful. Thanks!
