Real World Application to Slope-Intercept Form
I recently created a project for my students to "Buy a Car" and use slope-intercept form. Students selected a car between $30,000 and $40,000 and followed directions for the 4 checkpoints the car consisted of. Checkpoint 1 was creating a posted about their car. I used Canva, but Pages would be great, as well. In checkpoint 2, students completed the math necessary to figure out an equation that would get their car to depreciate to $500 in 20 years. In checkpoint 3, students completed a table that showed how they used their formula to figure out the depreciation of their car each year. In checkpoint 4, students used Numbers to create a table and graph representing the depreciation of their car. This was a highly engaging project and my students got a lot out of it!
