Augmented Reality in Art Show

Our school community celebrate an Art Show every second year. We haven't been able to host this event since 2019 and thought it would be a great opportunity to showcase our students creativity and learning with technology. Our students worked on two projects with augmented reality:

Underwater World: My Year 3/4 class used Reality Composer to transport their audience into an underwater world. The used their felted piece as an image anchor and worked in small groups to create their underwater world. They experimented with different tools and techniques using Sketches School to create underwater creatures. They worked collaboratively to import their digital artworks and place them in the space their artwork was displayed. Students added behaviours to replicate movement and sound effects underwater, eg. ocean sounds, bubbles, moving fish etc. They did an incredible job of immersing the audience in their underwater scene.

Four Seasons: A small group of gifted Year 5 and 6 students (creative domain) used a blank room on the side of the exhibition space to show 'Four Season in One Room'. Students worked collaboratively to design this experience for their audience, from their plan, to arrows on the floor and assisting younger students to view their project. They used a variety of 3D modelling apps, predominately Tinkercad, to create the assets in each scene. They brought their scene to life by adding behaviours, such as the bird flying faster as you get closer to it's nest.

Our school community were blown away by the creativity and skills of all students involved in these projects.
