Augmented Reality with Early Learners - Part Three (JigSpace)

This post is the third in a series that explore engaging Augmented Reality apps for early learners. See below for links to the other posts which explore AR MAKR and WWF Forests. The app covered in this post is great for curious minds... JigSpace.

Within this app, early learners can launch and explore a range of different 'Jigs' - or - AR/3D presentations. These Jigs are interactive and take students on an immersive step-by-step journey through concepts such as The Lunar Landing, The Human Brain, How Plants are Pollinated - and my favourite in the early years - The Coral Reef. For our upper primary and high school students - you can even create your own Jigs! Jigspace is free to download on iPhone or iPad (and teachers can sign up to a free education account for access to more Jigs and features): https://apps.apple.com/au/app/jigspace/id1111193492

The video below is another that was created as part of the Apple Education Early Learning series in 2022 (filmed in a beautiful early learning centre on the Gold Coast), and shows you how to use this wonderful app to explore a coral reef with your early learners.

How might you use this app with your early learners?

🌱 Have the student stand in amongst the coral reef AR experience and use the video record function to capture them swimming with the fish!

🌱 Take a screen shot of the scene and use the Markup tools to draw other creatures that may live in this habitat.

🌱 Use this AR experience as a provocation to create their own coral reef scenes using hands on materials in the classroom.

What is your favourite AR app to use with Early Learners?
