Augmented Reality with Early Learners - Part 2 (WWF Forests)

This post is the second in a series that explore engaging Augmented Reality apps for early learners. See below for links to the other posts which explore AR MAKR and JigSpace. The app covered in this post definitely has the WOW factor..... WWF Forests 🌳🌿🌱.

Within this app, early learners can launch and explore a forest right within their learning space 🙌🏻 The sounds 🙌🏻 The interactivity 🙌🏻 The visuals 🙌🏻 I have never met a teacher who doesn't LOVE this app! You can download it on iPhone or iPad for free on the app store by clicking this link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/wwf-forests/id1518039408

The video below is another that was created as part of the Apple Education Early Learning series in 2022 (filmed in a beautiful early learning centre on the Gold Coast), and shows you how to use this wonderful app - including how to create your own forests as part of the experience.

How might you use this app with your early learners?

🌱 Exploring habitats - ask students to determine what living things could live in this forest?

🌱 Have a student stand in the middle of the forest and use the video recording function to capture them talking about this habitat.

🌱 Explore the forest canopy by laying on the ground in the middle of the forest. What could live in the trees? Capture an image using the screen capture tool within the app and use Markup tools to draw these creatures.

🌱 Use the 'Your own Forest' chapter to create your own habitat to suit a living thing.

🌱 Explore the 'Forest in Peril' chapter to explore how natural disasters and humans can impact thriving forests.

🌱 Just experience it..... the sounds and visuals are so engaging on their own!
