Apple Learning Institute - Queensland

Over three days, a dedicated community of schools leaders came together to develop an action plan for professional learning in their school that focuses on the integration of Apple technology.

The objectives were to:

-Expand personal skills in iPad functionality and Apple apps

-Enhance awareness and usage of Apple program resources for professional learning

-Create professional learning implementation plans for their school

-Develop a professional learning community with a focus on technology

-Understand how Apple technology and resources can support a school improvement agenda

After two days of exploring Apple Resources for professional learning, sharing their journey so far with other schools and learning some new skills, the group was tasked with designing an action plan that will enable their school community to leverage the potential of Apple technology.

To support them with building their story and action plan to pitch to their school leadership teams, the group used the “Tell Your Story Template” in the Communication Guide for Education Leaders, from the Elements of Leadership Book in the Apple Book Store.

Day three was an opportunity to come together after several weeks to reflect, share any changes to their plans and explore next steps.

Congratulations to this group of inspiring Apple Learning Leaders.

It has been an amazing journey working with Colleagues from other schools and Apple on this learning. We are only at the start but it certainly has helped us to get started on the right path.

A really unique experience and opportunity to learn, share and develop amongst peers from various areas across QLD. Able to walk away with new skills to bring into the classroom and help students engage with their Apple resources.

I have learnt so much and this opportunity has given me the confidence and tools to work with my College Principal in implementing my action plan to improve the use of iPad technologies in the classroom. Fortunately since 2021, every student in years 7-12 has a College loaned iPad. But PD and basic skills were not taught and our iPads aren’t being used to their full potential. As an aspiring digital leader, in 2023 I’ll be leading a team and running collaborative workshops to up skill staff. We will also be implementing a digital learning journey to improve iPad skills of students in years 7-9. This was all created through resources, conversations and inspiration sessions during the Apple Learning Institute days. I’m excited about the things to come with the skilled use of iPad technology in our classrooms. Thank you very much to our facilitators Chantelle and Sandy.
