Exploring Habitats with Augmented Reality
It's no secret that I love exploring AR with my early learners, and what I find most exciting is that I have only just scratched the surface myself! There is so much to learn and I can't wait to dig deeper.
I was lucky enough to be part of the Early Years Workshop Series with Apple Education this year and shared a few of my favourite AR apps during the session on Augmented Reality.
I thought I might add a few posts featuring those apps to share with this amazing community.
First up is the WWF FORESTS app - free to download from the app store. This app is purely magical. So much fun to explore, the soundscapes are amazing! Even better is the fact that you can create your own AR forest scene.
Why not have your students create the perfect habitat for a chosen animal? They could then record their screen (all within the app) to talk about their habitat, or take a screenshot and use Mark Up to add their animal and any additional features the habitat needs.
This video is a quick walkthrough of the app. It truly is so much fun to explore!

Thanks for this post and for the walk-through video, Rachel! I'm always looking for new AR apps to introduce to the preservice teachers with whom I work, and WWF Forests was new to me. So many possibilities for how we might use this app to engage our students in learning!
