Edit regions.

When you record music, vocals, or sound effects in GarageBand, a graphical representation of your recording — called a region — appears in one of the tracks in Tracks view. You can trim, split, and arrange regions to build songs and other audio projects.

Apply it.

  • Edit and enhance a recorded interview for added impact. Split the recording into multiple regions and balance volumes between voices before applying audio presets for a desired effect.

  • Add transitions between sections of a recorded lecture. Split the region into shorter segments and add Apple Loops to indicate the start and end of each topic.

For even more precise edits, use the Audio Editor, which provides a detailed view of each region. In the Audio Editor, you can move and trim audio regions, split and join them, and edit them in other ways. Edits you make in the Audio Editor are nondestructive, so you can always return to your original recordings.
