Drummer lets you add realistic beats to any audio project. Each virtual drummer in GarageBand has a unique style, influenced by diverse genres and cultures, so you can find the perfect beat for the mood and style of your recording.

Try out a drummer. Create a new Empty Project and choose Drummer as the track type. Then click Create.
Make the track longer. Drag the upper‑right edge of the Drummer region to the right to extend its length.
Audition the drummer. Click Play to hear Kyle drumming. As he plays, select different beats from the list of beat presets and listen to how the drumming changes.
Edit the drummer’s performance. Drag the yellow puck up or down in the XY pad to adjust the drummer’s loudness. Drag the puck left or right to adjust the beat’s complexity.
Click a drum kit piece to mute or unmute it. Drag the sliders for additional beat variations.
Pick a different drummer. In the Library panel, click the name of another drummer.
Create a beat to enhance the rhythmic nature of poetry. Add variety by alternating percussion instruments or Apple Loops.
Create a personalized music track to establish and maintain pace during a cardio activity or workout. Vary the tempo for warm‑up and cool‑down periods.
When using Drummer along with other music tracks, you can set Drummer to follow one of the other tracks in your project. The kick and snare portions of the Drummer region will automatically adapt to the rhythm of the track you choose.
