Backpacking Through Europe Activity

As a culminating activity for our unit on the continent of Europe, middle school social studies students completed a project where they virtually backpacked through Europe. They created a digital passport page, packed a suitcase, planned their travel, took flyover tours, and more.

Students had a great time with this and were able to use so many features to engage in this activity and feel immersed in the various locations and cultures.

Below are just some sample pages from student workbooks, and I've also attached the file below for you to use.

*All workbook designs made in Keynote using shapes.

Happy creating!

Thanks for sharing Tanya. Makes learning more engaging, can be applied for other countries too, can be connected with other subjects like math , languages, food and culture…ideas just keep coming.

I've done similar trip planning activities, but I LOVE the backpacking twist! Using all the shapes in Keynote is wonderful.

What a fun Keynote template for this activity! I love the ways you've asked students to use research skills and demonstrate what they've learned in a variety of ways.
