In 21 years of teaching Geometry, I have amassed quite the collection of resources and strategies for my toolkit. One of my favorites for vocabulary acquisition was the foldable. For those who do not remember folding and cutting paper to make tabs, here is an example from years ago for parallel lines and transversals.
In a 1 to 1 iPad district, I wanted a way to allow students the same type of study tool in a more accessible way than paper. I was able to use Keynote to create a foldable that could export as a pdf. I could post the pdf in Canvas for students to open in Notability. Students can write on the foldable and use it as a vocabulary tool without losing the paper. Here is a screen-recording of the movement of the tabs. As a student taps towards the center line of the tabs they want to open, it appears to open.
I am attaching a sample template of a smaller foldable. It is a diamond shape with 4 “tabs”. After customization, export as a .pdf. #dptech

We have many teachers moving toward digital notebooks but they still want to keep the interactivity elements of their paper notebooks - I know several will appreciate this. Thanks for the idea and the template to get started!
