Poetry in Music Keynote Project

This is a quick little project that will reinforce poetry concepts such as figurative language and sound devices.

  1. Students should find a school-appropriate song they like and look up or type up a portion of the song lyrics.
  2. Using Notes or any other app that allows annotation, annotate the lyrics by highlighting and labeling elements such as figurative language (simile, metaphor, personification), imagery, and sound devices (alliteration, onomatopoeia, rhyme).
  3. Find the song on youtube or another app, and screen record the portion of the song that has the chosen lyrics. Use Clips to clean it up and save the video to photos.
  4. Open Keynote (basic template attached but not really needed) and add the following to one slide:
  • Song Title and Artist
  • Student Name
  • Annotated lyrics
  • Video (media) of the song clip

Students can submit their Keynote or share with the class.
