5 Ways to Enhance Speaking Skills: A Visual Approach for Emerging Bilinguals

Use the following template as a planning document. The purpose is to help you document the supports you use during the instruction of your lesson that allow you to support the diverse language needs of your emerging bilinguals.

Teachers can use the template to scaffold language learning by providing vocabulary lists, language models, and graphic organizers, video clips and vocabulary posters to assist students in understanding and expressing complex ideas related to the content. With this scaffold support template, teachers can provide additional support to help students grasp new concepts and skills.

Visuals can help students understand the language of instruction to better comprehend the grade level content. In this template you will have access to the WIDA Can Do Language Descriptors with an embedded link to the WIDA website. In addition you will also have access to a graphic organizer with sensory, graphic and interactive support ideas that can be used with Multilingual Students.
