Add Excitement to Your Animal Reports

Level up the traditional elementary animal reports with an animal soundscape created in GarageBand.

Using Live Loops in GarageBand makes it easy to create an audio background to add excitement and more authentic context for elementary animal reports.

Don’t know GarageBand? Use the How to Create an Animal Soundscape Keynote tutorial video or file at the end of this post to guide yourself and students through creating a customized animal soundscape to accompany their animal research report.

About Live Loops

  • A loop is an audio recording that repeats over and over.
  • A Live Loops project consists of a simple grid.
  • Each cell on the grid can hold one musical phrase or loop.
  • The grid lets you start and stop loops, individually or in groups, while keeping everything in sync.

Steps to create an Animal Soundscape

  1. Long press on the GarageBand app to create a new Live Loops Song
  2. Add the Toy Box sound pack
  3. Create your animal soundscape by tapping cells or columns of Live Loops
  4. Create a recording of your soundscape
  5. Export and share your soundscape

💡 Pro Tip: Give students a chance to explore and experiment with Live Loops before starting your Animal Soundscape. Set aside some time to have a GarageBand dance party with your students as DJs! You’ll be amazed at the great music your students can create with Live Loops.
