Megan Trahan (@Dragon_Coach) and I met at ADE Institute in 2023 and have been working on compiling lessons for high school teachers using MacBooks or iPads in class. Megan uses MacBooks, and I use iPads, and in our collaboration, we realized that small adjustments can be made to apply the lessons in each environment. Over the next 30 days, we’ll post one lesson idea each day with tips on how to make it work in either environment you are teaching in.
Lesson Idea #5: Angles and Lines Scavenger Hunt
In this activity, students use conditional highlighting in the Numbers template to check their understanding of vocabulary and types of angles. When students select the correct term matching the definition, the cell will turn green.
Students will then apply their understanding of the vocabulary terms by locating real-world examples of each term. Using the image place holders, students can snap a picture illustrating the type of angle. Then using drawing tools in Numbers, students can circle or draw in the angle they have identified in the picture.
📣 How do you provide opportunities for students to connect their learning to their real-world experiences?

What an awesome use of the conditional highlighting for immediate feedback for students and providing the opportunity for students to apply these terms in their everyday life! This will help build those connections in their long term memory.
