Data Collection in Numbers

In this lesson, students collect data from their classmates on a topic (ex: favorite ice cream flavor, class pets, favorite sport, etc.). They put the data into the frequency table and then use the graphing tool to create different graphs to display the information.

This is great! Did you show them how to set up the graph themselves, or just have the template for them? Did you know that after they have generated their graphs, they can customize each bar/wedge to any color or image? How fun would it be for them to find a picture of cookies and cream ice cream and make that bar/wedge that picture? Or match the colors to the flavors like having pink for strawberry? It could be cross-curricular by having them write a short summary about what the data tells them.

What a great way to use Numbers to visualize data, Audrey! Thank you for sharing the template so all teachers can benefit from the tool!
