We recently hosted a powerful professional development session focused on leveraging Apple's accessibility tools to support diverse learners in our classrooms.
The session explored built-in iPad and Mac accessibility features that can make a meaningful difference—ranging from VoiceOver and Speak Screen to Guided Access and Live Captions. Educators were especially inspired by how small adjustments can remove significant barriers to learning.
Resource Spotlight: We used the 30 Accessibility Tips with Thoughts document to spark discussions, provide real examples, and help educators visualize how these features apply to real student needs.
Action-Oriented Approach: Each participant completed an Accessibility Commitment Card (see attached), outlining:
- A new feature they’ll try this week
- Specific student(s) it may help
- Support they might need
This simple tool encouraged reflection and accountability while promoting meaningful experimentation in classrooms.
