Using Reality Composer on the iPad

Augmented reality (AR) is an engaging way to bring abstract concepts to life in an interactive and immersive way. Students see, manipulate, create, and explore 3D models or environments, which increases curiosity, deepens understanding, and makes learning feel more like play than work.

My augmented reality app of choice is Reality Composer. At the secondary level, Reality Composer can be used in a multitude of content areas such as:

  • Math: coordinate grids, ordered pairs, 3 dimensional shape translations.
  • Ecology, Wildlife, Sciences: forestry management planning, historical timelines with fossils.
  • Art: virtual art museums.
  • ELA: book reports, audio reads.
  • History: museums, historical dioramas.

I have provided below a tutorial on the important features in Reality Composer for beginners looking to get started.
