Context
This activity encourages students to express personal opinions, practise descriptive writing, and build persuasive skills through something they care about. By structuring their thoughts clearly and explaining why they love a film, students learn to organise ideas, support opinions with examples, and connect with an audience in writing. It’s a great way to bridge critical thinking with expressive language in a low-pressure format.
Preparation & Flow
1. Movie Talk Warm-Up
Discuss as a class:
“What’s a movie you love?”
“What made it memorable?”
List some elements on the board (story, characters, visuals, emotions, music, etc.).
2. Choose Your Movie
Students choose a movie they genuinely enjoy and would recommend to a friend.
